LASA began because I got tired of food writing that hides power. Every essay here asks who profits, whose labor gets erased, and what we have been trained to swallow without noticing the bitterness.
If you write about Filipino food and you examine the structures behind it, I want to read your work. Climate patterns wreck harvests. Corporations control seeds. Apps squeeze riders. Indigenous knowledge disappears while fusion gets applause. Use food to reveal systems, not only to document culture.
Questions about an essay or the platform or our purpose. Email me. I read every message, though replies take time. Response times vary with volume. I am not ignoring you.
If your work touches food sovereignty, labor rights, climate justice, or indigenous knowledge in the Philippines, let’s talk.
Organizations doing this work, same invitation. Get in touch.
